Spaten-Franziskaner-Bräu, established in 1397, is one of Munich's oldest and most renowned breweries. In 1894, it became the first brewery in Munich to produce a light lager, known as the Münchner Hell, setting the standard for the Helles lager style. The brewery is also one of the six official beer suppliers for Munich's Oktoberfest.
